Welcome Back To Regular Programming;

So it has been almost a year since I have updated my blog. I really wanted to make a go of it when I began so I could keep a closer eye on my life. This clearly failed as normal life took over after a few posts. But this is set to change now as I will be posting once a week now.
Do I care if no-one reads my blog? Not really.
Will I advertise it so people can read it? Sure, but again if no one reads it that is fine as I just want these posts to remember what has happened in my life over time, because I have a terrible memory clearly.
So where did we leave off last time? I had attended SSS at the UniBar, that night my car was smashed in and good ol’ Drew boy looked after everything for me as I was not in the best form that night.
Currently I am sitting in Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne waiting on my flight to Hobart for my days off. This is just a casual trip, catch up with the boys, be nerds for a weekend, play some poker obviously, and ill drop in and see my mother, who does not know I am actually coming down. Although I was speaking to here on the phone not long ago and the airport had many calls over the PA which may have given it away a little bit. It will be nice to get back to Hobart for a while as it will be a nice change of pace from the big city here. I hate sitting in airports waiting for flights, because they always feel so depressive to me. I mean shouldn’t everyone be happy because they are seeing their loved ones? Cheer up people. Also I am flying business class, Yiew!!
Time to fill you in on how I even ended up in Melbourne; While I was working at Centrelink with my man J Mets I was living with Scotty and I had decided that I wanted a change and wanted to work in a fun job again, so 3am one morning I apply to be a Poker Dealer at Crown Casino just out of curiosity. The next day I had a phone interview for the job and the next week I was in Melbourne in a big group interview. It was all so quick I didn’t even realize that I wanted to leave Hobart so bad, but about 2 weeks after the group interview I was offered a position with Crown and I had accepted it. During this time I was dating a girl by the name of Jessica, and she was very supportive of my decision to apply at Crown, so much so that when I was offered the job, she agreed to drop everything and move to Melbourne with me, obviously making me very happy.
We are currently living in a awesome little apartment in Flinders St right in the center of the city. And the couch has already held numerous heads of Tassie walk ins looking for a place to crash while in Melbourne. Let’s be honest, Melbourne > Hobart by so much of a margin. Life is good.
That’s a pretty good dot point process of how I am where I am now. I have just been called for my flight, time to fly.

A Smashing Weekend...

So the ‘Super Month of May’ got off to a smashing start… literally.
As per my previous blog I have so much lined up for this month which will not only keep me extremely entertained but it will also drain all of my funds, and more then likely put me behind in my debt for the month.

Let’s begin on Friday 1st May. I knock off work and pick up Scotty C and we then head to DB’s for a few beers before Sneaky Sound System. DB drops us in at Maccas where we have a pre night feast. As we are walking up to the Unibar, I have a bit of a stress because my licence has expired and I’m not too sure if they will let me in or not??? As we arrive one of the guys on the door I went to school with, so I make a deliberate move towards him because I know he won’t ask me for ID, and lucky for me he didn’t!
We were about 90mins early for the main act, so we begin to smash down some Vodka + Redbulls, which went down very well.
At 1030 Sneaky come on to a DJ Set only, which we were a little disappointed about, but will give it a chance… And little did we expect but they went off! The gig was massive, the crowd loved it, and we loved it! Well worth it! They ended up leaving the stage at about 12ish, and the crowds were then directed to the exits.
After that a bit of chilling at the casino we decide to call it a night, dropped Scotty C home and then I was given a lift back to my car parked out the front of DB’s place to find it like this….

Obviously, in my state of intoxication I was devastated and angry all at once. The little Bogan locals who did this, caused well over $2000 worth of damage to my car for, wait for it….. Half a carton of cheap alcohol. My iTouch, sunnies, stereo, and other valuables were all left in the car, leaving the damage for next to no reason at all. This has left me crushed, but life goes on, I will sort out some finance and have it repaired.
Then to top off the weekend The Cannons get absolutely hammered on Sunday losing 6 - 0 to Huon Valley.

We move on and come to the 2nd weekend of the Massive Month of May. Now this weekend is supposed to be the RSLC cruise, but now due to obvious car damage, I cannot attend, which leaves me to have a quiet weekend at home.
Sunday sees The Cannons take on Uni Grads. Both teams travelling about the same, and we come out firing in the first half. I had been called offside no less then 15 times during the game, and had a goal disallowed which was clearly not offside at all, to which the ref apologized for at half time… to late mate.
The score at half time is 1-0 against us. The 2nd half had a lot less action, but it did see me get on the score sheet a few mins in. That goal seen the scores lever at 1 – 1. But then in typical Cannons fashion, we were ran over and ended up losing the game 4-1.

So we are now half way through the month, we are 0/2 for the Football season, I am $2000 under which more debt to come. But on the up, Adelaide at the end of this week, and Presets weekend after, let’s hope for a pick up!

It's A Swine Kinda Day!

So back from the wilderness I have returned. But yet I’m still looking at the same scenery and people in this building in the centre of Hobart city. My job… what a wonderful place to sit and think about life as it is… or what I would prefer it to be. Ha!
So since my last post my Football team, The Kingston Cannons, have not done anything surprising, succumbing to a 4-0 defeat on the weekend to one of the top teams. My goal tally for the season still sits on 4, which is equal top for the Cannons along side Division 3 attacker Johnny K. This week we face Huon Valley who are currently 2nd on the table, so I am expecting another defeat and no more goals added for myself.
So my degeneracy finally got the better of me and I totalled my bankroll on a final session at Wrest Point Wednesday last week. Due to this I have placed a self ban on myself from the Casino until debts are other things have been cleared up, which is looking to be about 4 weeks. This however has not stopped me already planning my next two big poker outings at Sky City Adelaide, and then a trip to the Crown Casino in Melbourne. Both of which I will be making a stab at some decent returns. I’m sure WJ will be keen to place a side bet on me busting multiple buy-ins at both venues… to which I will take up!
This ban seems to be looking good for me though, I am now going back to the gym a few times a week, and I can really spend more time in the finer things in life…. Drinking! This month is looking to be a very trashy one if all goes to plan!

•Friday 1st May – Sneaky Sound System @ Unibar
•Friday 8th / Saturday 9th May – Drink and Coastal Cruise with the RSLC
•Sunday 17th to Thursday 21st May – Trip to Adelaide for drinking, gambling, and a visit to the Zoo!
•Saturday 23rd May – Presets w/ supports @ DEC

I am looking forward to this very full on month to which Scotty C will be joining in all of these events. Very Nice!

Well the phone is ringing, and the swine flu is coming, so I will keep moving!

Up Down But Not Around.

So here I am on this Saturday night/Sunday Morning, 12:17am. It has been a very interesting day to say the least.
It began with a trip to McDonalds at 3am this morning, but then home to sleep. I got up to a beautiful day and pumped for today’s Football (Soccer) match against Beachside. I had this feeling of confidence for today’s game. I am yet to score this season, and playing up front that’s my job! We are playing on nutgrove beach, well not the beach, but the ground next to it. I have always been a fan of this ground due to it being the shortest of all the football pitches in southern Tas. The game got off to a great start for the Cannons, as I picked up a loose ball in the 18yard box and slotted it passed the keeper. Brilliant! My goal drought was over and I had given the team a good lead 20mins into the game. Within the next 15mins Beachside had slotted 3 past our 2nd keep as the main was out, so that leaves the score at 3-1 with 5 mins left in the first half. Looking at this score the team had basically already given up, but with 2 mins to go, our keeper saved a shot and bombed the ball up front to me. The ball sailed over me and the defenders heads, as we all ran onto it I got my boot to it and chipped the keeper for once bounce and then it was in the back of the net! 3-2. I was ecstatic, not only had a broken my goal drought but I’m on the scoreboard with 2 and we are right back into the game!
The 2nd half began pretty shaky for the Cannons as Beachside put another away to put the scored at 4-2. Not long after that goal a penalty was caused by Beachside. Normally the coach/captain/player takes the penalties, but due to being on the verge of a hat trick he left the kick to me! (Now the last time I had to take a penalty in competition was a final and I choked, so this was running through my head) I kicked it low and into the left corner. HAT TRICK! And the scores are now 4-3, once again I have pulled the team back into the game. Beachside again have the domination of play and slot another, 5-3. It looks over as there is 20mins to go. But moments later I have another opportunity and chip the keeper with my left to put away my 4th of the game. 5-4. this is the best performance I have ever put on. But then in the last 10mins, the Cannons basically give up and we see Beachside run away with it scoring another 3, to demolish us 8-4 in the end. I have very mixed reactions for this game as I scored 4 and it’s the best game I have ever played, but yet we were embarrassed.
So feeling good, I decide it’s time to go to the casino for another degen session. And I have to be honest, I had some good hands, but I played them terribly, and this resulted in me going bust once again. So after such a downswing I will be taking a break from Hobart’s Wrest Point Casino. An upside to the night was I asked a few new friends to come down and play at the cas for the first time, lets called them BC and JG. BC had a decent run but as I left he was a touch down from his initial buy in. I have to congratulate JG though, she played very strong and tight poker to be up nearly $400 as I left, and I was very impressed for a first time cash game player!
Right well that’s me down for the night!

Hobart Becomes Faster….

…..But yet so many of the people around are still as slow as ever!
So 3G coverage for Vodafone has finally kicked off today and wow does it make a difference. Hoo-rah for mobile internet. Makes those long days at work that little bit easier. (Because the flu shot today certainly didn’t help)

As for the people… well you can’t help how some people were raise, or even where for that matter! Some of the people I work with are well, let’s be honest, complete idiots. Being in a team that revolves around collecting debt for the company we should be a close bunch and always there to back up each others decisions. This is not the case though… Let’s take a trip back to yesterday afternoon. An account I had actioned was clearly stated that this customer was a risk and we should allow for this customer to have any lenience at all. But what does one of my ‘colleagues’ go and do??? Overturns my decision and then tells me to tell the customer!!! F*** that! So I tell him so! One of my other so called ‘colleagues’ then decides to call the boss at home and tattle on me! (I mean seriously, how old are we now? Is this primary school all over again?)
This now brings us to today. I do my usual and get to work late, and instantly get pulled into a meeting room with the boss. Now one would think with my scheduled adherence that this would be about me turning up late. This however is not the case. I am sat and the whole story gets played out from yesterday, to which I detested almost 90% of the story as BS. I explain the whole situation, explain that this team should be loyal ECT and that was the end of it, my decision stands and I now speak to two less people in a team that only consists of 10 people!
So the lesson to come out of all this; No matter what perceptions you have of a group or just certain individuals they will never cease to amaze you when they have a chance to knock you down when your performance outshines them!
That may seem a little conceited, but just ask JM, I myself have been with the company only 3 months today, and I know the job and the components better already then these two who have been there for >year.

The degeneration continues tomorrow night at Wrest Point Casino. We are all hoping for the masses of Fish who have been paid their free money will be out to play! And also hoping for a drunken WJ the Loan Shark to sit for an hour or so!

Easter Weekend Degeneracy

So I have decided to take inspiration from the man of the moment Barney Stinson… and start my blog.

I guess we should start with a brief overview of who Chris Whitmee is.
This is a man of youthful exuberance. Lives life to the fullest and (insert generic brag here). Overall though, he is awesome!

But enough about that, I am at work so I need to keep reasonably focused on the task at hand. This is earning money so I can play more poker!
It’s a good thing that it is Wednesday night; this means the casino poker tables are open once again. But yet the Big Dog K Rudd has not paid me the $900 that is rightly owed to me in the time of financial crisis.
Looking at my recent run of form I am not exactly sure I should go on this off pay week. Let’s have a look at the recent downward spiral:

Wednesday 08/04: Played decent poker at the casino. Cashed out $160 up
Friday 09/04: A very solid night for myself. Cashed out $450 up, but owed Will $$$$ so this left me close to even
Saturday 11/04: This involves a bit of a story (again the Hobart’s only casino)…. Sat down with $150, and played reasonably tight for 3 hours and was looking good have about $550 in front of me, then out of complete stupidity I made a play at the tightest player at the table (some euro kid) and dumped nearly $250 too him. So I was still looking in good shape, but that sent me through a loop and I went on complete monkey tilt, and dumped it all plus another buy in or 2.
Monday 13/04: This being the last day of the Easter long weekend I decided to spend the rest of the day after soccer at two cash games, one with the Casino dealers and the local degens. Had a horrible day and got saved by one hand at the end where I flopped a set of 3’s against Aces, got paid off and cash out exactly even! The nest game being at DB’s and just consisted of all the regular degens. Played terrible poker, bought in for $50 three times and lost it all, had $50 left in my wallet so I decided to bust that as well, bought in, and shoved all in the first 3 hands, and surprisingly enough I caught pocket 10’s, Ace Queen and Ace 10. I was doubled up 2/3 hands and ended up cashing for $151 after buying in for $200 during the night, but through terrible play I got lucky.

This brings me back to me current spot. My last time at the casino I busted really badly, and busted my bankroll…. The decision now is do I go back and try to build it up? Or do I wait for my free money from K Rudd???
